Book clubs can be a great deal of fun and are a wonderful way to share books that you love with friends or family who might also enjoy them but sometimes it can be difficult to maintain a book club. Lots of people have friends or family that live out of town or even in different states or countries making it impossible to meet up even once a month to discuss a book. Others may have pressing time commitments like a job with unstable hours or children that need tending to. Responsibilities like these can make it difficult to attend meetings and be present whenever a book club wants to discuss their latest read. It can also be frustrating to try and find meeting times that work with everyones schedules especially if you have a large group that is meeting to discuss your book or people that have largely varying work hours. For some people this may make it seem like they simply don’t have room in their busy lives and chaotic schedules to participate in an enjoyable book club but that simply isn’t the case. In fact with the advances in technology that our generation has made there are plenty of ways you can still participate in a book club without having to stress out over meeting times or other arrangements.

One of the very best ways to do this is to join an online book club or to start one yourself and then invite friends and family or other members into it. Online book clubs are extremely fun and can make it easier to be a member of a book club because many of them don’t have as strict deadlines and leave discussion of various books open at any time even if the rest of the group has move on to a new title. This also makes it a lot easier to participate because you can just sit down at the computer and write up a bit about what you though about the book, its writing, its plot, or its characters and hit send. You don’t have to drive to someone's house, bring a bunch of snacks, or worry about rearranging your schedule in order to coincide with meeting times. If the only time that you have to share your thoughts on a book that you like is at three in the morning then go ahead and write about it then. That’s the beauty of having a book club online is that you aren’t weighed down by any time constraints or specific meeting places. People from all over the world and with completely different time schedules can get together (online, that is) to discuss their favorite books and authors.

If you want to start an online book club it’s also very easy to do that. Many websites have forums or chats that allow book clubs to easily take place in them or you could even host your own website and allow others to come visit it and chat about the books they love and make suggestions to others. There are also some dedicated websites to books and reading that already have online book clubs set up that you can simply become a member of if you aren’t looking to start your own. Either way it’s a great option for someone who is short on time but wants to be involved. Look for online book clubs that you like and join one that looks fun to you!
