When Books Are Made Into Movies
When a book does extremely well it’s very common for it to be optioned out and turned into a movie. Movies turn a great deal more of a profit than books do so it’s tempting to turn a really popular book into an even more popular film. Lots of people really enjoy having their favorite books turned into movies and they can be really fun to see an interpretation of them on the screen. A lot of people like to compare them and notice the differences between their vision of the book and someone else's ideas of what the movie should look like. It can also be really disappointing for people when they see their favorite book changed and altered to fit the big screen - possibly in ways that they don’t like.
However there have been a lot of good books that have turned into movies that are now classic films that many of us really love and wouldn’t want to be without. Films like the Harry Potter series, the Lord of The Rings series, the Jurassic Park Trilogy, War of The World, and many others are all amazing films that have been wonderfully put together to represent the books that they came from. Even many romantic comedies or chick lit books are now being made into films like The Devil Wears Prada or P.S. I Love You. There are books being made into movies for children as well like Alice In Wonderland and Where The Wild Things Are. Movies that come from books are usually really good and often a lot of time and effort is put into making them follow the book very closely so as not to upset any fans of the book that may be looking and scrutinizing every little detail.
For some book lovers though the movies are often a disappointment especially if they don’t hold true to the story of the book or if little details or pieces of he plot are off. This can be extremely frustrating for a reader and can make them lose a love of a book they might have previously enjoyed if a movie is bad enough to ruin it. This is why many book readers will refuse to see the movie of a given book if they are unsure as to the quality of it and sometimes they’ll send friends or family ahead to make sure that they won’t be too disappointed by it. For this reason many people will always recommend reading the book a movie came from prior to going out and seeing the film.
If you’re a die hard book lover you may want to avoid watching any of the movies of your favorite books unless you know for certain that you’ll be pleased with the result but sometimes it’s easy to watch a movie and then return to the book knowing that the version of it that exists in your mind is far better than anything Hollywood could come up with. Either way books and movies are united in entertaining people and will be for some time.
